Using SharePoint 2007 for Effective Project Management Course

Course Abstract:

This course is geared towards teaching the concepts of managing and utilizing of Windows SharePoint 2007.  It incorporates the basic project management methodologies, tools and techniques while taking participants through the process of customizing the SharePoint site to meet the project lifecycle.  During the class, participants will be working in and creating SharePoint sites to meet the essentials of communication and collaboration around their organization or project environments. 

This course applies tool sets and methodologies for organizations that wish to promote good collaboration, communication and summarization of documents; and information and status reporting through the SharePoint website.  This course will address the industry best practices of project management as well as the utilitarian attributes of Windows SharePoint like utilizing templates and subsites.

Course Manual and CD with MS Word, Excel and Access Templates for key change control processes and project communications, analysis and reporting are provided to attendees as take away tools.

Audience: This course is designed for project managers or team members who will be communicating and managing tasks or projects utilizing the internet or web-based communication.

Prerequisites:

Real-world experience in either managing a project team or working as a member of a project team is helpful in seizing the concepts within SharePoint that you can use to automate and simplify work.  Web experience and familiarization with mouse driven environment and Microsoft Windows is also helpful.
