SharePoint and SQL Database Usage Course

Course Abstract: This course is for participants who need to work with SQL Databases from a SharePoint website.  Tools including SharePoint Designer 2007 and Visual Studio will be used to access and update SQL databases.  Designer Data Sources and Data Views will be used to leverage database access.  Visual Studio will also be used to design, create, and test SQL Web Parts.  SQL Server and participant databases will be used during the course.  The MOSS Business Data Catalog usage of SQL databases will also be included.
Audience: This course is designed for individuals who need to access and update SQL databases from a SharePoint site.
Duration: 3 days
Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

> Access SQL databases as a Data Source in SharePoint Designer 2007
> Create pages using the DataView web part
> Troubleshoot connection problems
> Build SQL WEB parts using C Sharp
> Debug SQL in Visual Studio

Prerequisites: SharePoint 2007 usage from an end/power user perspective is the minimum experience necessary. No development experience with SharePoint 2007 is required. Exposure to an OO language like C Sharp or Java would be beneficial. Programming and SQL coding experience required.
