Course Abstract: This course provides the fundamentals of team building. Issues like group synergy, attitude, perception, trust, and competition, are fully explored. Participants identify some of the common blockers that hinder people from working together. Additionally, participants identify their preference styles, and learn the importance of appreciating differences.
Audience: This course is designed for anyone.
Duration: 1 day
Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

> Identify the characteristics of a good team player
> Experience a team exercise that reinforces the principles of this course
> Identify blockers that hinder people from working together
> Know how working together increases productivity, enhances personal health and other interpersonal skills

Where is the organization relative to working together?
Characteristics of a team member

In this introductory section, participants look at their organization and departments relative to how well they work together.  Additionally, they develop a list of important characteristics of a team player.

In this section, participants learn the value of working together.  They experience the “WIIFM”.

Although many people want to work together, cultural and personal blockers hinder their ability to do so.  This section examines these blockers and suggestions are facilitated on how to overcome them.

Understanding and Accepting Human Differences (or Conflict Management)

How preference styles affect teams

In this section, participants gain an understanding of their own preference styles. They examine how ones preference style can hinder or enhance a relationship.  Through this understanding, participants are able to accept differences in people.
