Course Abstract:

Establishing realistic schedules and budgets while ensuring that the project will meet business objectives and client expectations is one of the most challenging aspects of IT project planning. Participants learn techniques for developing and managing realistic project schedules and budgets. They learn to proactively identify and deal with schedule and cost variances to ensure successful project delivery.

Audience:

This course is designed for individuals who are responsible for managing project teams or interested in becoming project leaders. Also appropriate for those that sponsor project teams or work closely with project teams.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
>Identify unique difficulties in building technology schedules
>Establish more realistic expectations around cost and schedule estimates
>Build, analyze and optimize the IT project schedule
>Use tools for effective time and cost management
>Identify, acquire and manage project resources
>Identify the characteristics of troubled projects and strategies for corrective action
>Identify and manage risks unique to IT schedule and cost management
>Plan for contingencies and anticipate variations
>Use Earned Value Analysis (EVA) to evaluate and manage schedules and costs
>Predict future project performance based on current team data
