Conducting Successful Meetings Course

Course Abstract: This course teaches participants an easy-to-use systematic model for assuring effective group and individual meetings. The participants learn to increase their efficiency using short decisional meetings, which also encourage a team feeling between participants. Issues such as setting an agenda, prioritizing, organizing materials, and preparation are examined.
Audience: This course is designed for anyone who will be conducting meetings
Duration: 1 day

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

> Identify preconceived beliefs about meetings
> Understand the anatomy of a meeting
> Recognize specific behavioral styles that could disrupt a meeting

Plan a party
In this introductory section, participants reflect over their last meeting. This serves as a segue into preconceived thoughts and feelings about meetings. A metaphor of planning a party is used to illustrate how to plan a meeting.

Meeting alternatives
Participants identify four types of meetings to be used depending on the purpose. Meetings without purpose serve to undermine important meetings. Participants examine alternatives to formal meetings.
