Course Abstract:

Are you responsible for implementing and managing iSeries (AS/400) security? Not sure what all the new V5R1 and V5R2 functions are and how to utilize them? Then this class is for you! Through lecture, labs and a case study, learn how to administer security on the iSeries. Gain the skills necessary to ensure security and auditing functions implemented appropriately for your environment.

This course is designed for operators, administrators and IT professionals who need to implement and manage OS/400 security and auditing functions.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
>Describe the audit facilities that are built into OS/400
>Describe an iSeries security and audit policy
>Be able to manage user profiles, group profiles, authorization lists and security system values

Course Topics:

The components of OS/400 security and how to access them via iSeries Navigator and the ‘green screen’
How OS/400 checks authority for users and applications
How to implement OS/400 auditing and to pull reports from audit data
New security functions in V5R1 and V5R2

Prerequisites:

Participants should have working experience with OS/400 Navigator and ‘green screen’ interfaces. These skills can be developed through the successful completion of iSeries Operations Workshop I class, or iSeries Technical Orientation for Programmers course, or equivalent knowledge.
