WebSphere Portal 6.1 Administration and Deployment Course

Course Code: IN 1009
Course Abstract: This course teaches the operational tasks involved in maintaining a WebSphere Portal Server environment. This course focuses specifically on the advanced configuration required to support a cluster of WebSphere Portal servers. Rather than simply working with a basic installation throughout the entire course, participants are shown how to accomplish the tasks that will be required in a production-scale WebSphere Portal deployment. Participants will initially work separately so they become familiar with administrative tasks and then will work together to create a horizontal Portal cluster.
Audience: This course is designed for individuals who are administrators who are responsible for installing and maintaining a WebSphere Portal Server based web site.
Duration: 5 days
Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

> Plan for a portal installation
> Install portal, including silent installation
> Create a customized look and feel
> Install new portlet applications
> Configure Portal composite applications
> Add portlets to pages and change page layout
> Configure security using LDAP
> Migrate portal configuration databases to an external database
> Resolve most common problems
> Perform basic performance tuning
> Create multiple virtual portals
> Use Web Content Management to maintain the web site
