Cognos 8 Report Studio Course

Course Code: CO 01
Course Abstract: Report authors will learn report building techniques using relational data models, and ways of enhancing, customizing, and managing professional reports. Attendees will participate in hands-on demos and workshops that illustrate key concepts while learning how to use the product.
Audience: This course is designed for individuals who are developers.  You may have up to 12 participants for the session.
Duration: 3 days
Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

> Create basic list reports
> Create reports with calculations
> Create reports with filters
> Convert list reports to crosstab and repeater reports
> Reuse a report object
> Add prompts to a report page
> Investigate queries
> Combine two related reports into one
> Display separate report pages for different query items
> Create customized data items using calculations
> Customize reports with conditional formatting
> Creating relationships between queries (set operations, joins, query references
> Creating burst keys and bursting to email and the Web
> Designing effective prompts to determine report contents and/or format at runtime

Report Studio (3 days)

Workshop (1 day) Optional
Answer client specific questions
Create real reports using client packages and data

Prerequisites:

Knowledge of your business requirements
Experience using the Windows operating system
Experience using a web browser

Availability of a conference room, projector and computers for each participant(s) and trainer
The appropriate software installed on each participant(s) computer prior to start of training
Connection to your database from either ODBC or native driver
