Why You Should Care About CEUs Even If They Aren't Required

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) not only allow you to prove that you're still learning, they also prove that your training program is structured and taught to maximize your learning. So even if you, or your employees, don't need to earn CEUs, it's still worthwhile to insist on training programs that award them.

Here's what the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) looks for in granting CEU approval:

  • Criteria 1: Organization
  • Criteria 2: Responsibility and Control
  • Criteria 3: System for Awarding CEU
  • Criteria 4: Learning Environment and Support Systems
  • Criteria 5: Needs Identification
  • Criteria 6: Learning Outcomes
  • Criteria 7: Planning and Instructional Personnel
  • Criteria 8: Content and Instructional Methods
  • Criteria 9: Assessment of Learning Outcomes
  • Criteria 10: Post-Event Evaluation

Wouldn't you feel better knowing that your training program met these criteria?

IACET's criteria and guidelines are used in all forms of education in numerous industries, and their criteria and standards help to ensure clear program development and valuable learning outcomes.

How it works

TEKsystems Education Services will provide Continuing Education Unit (CEU) as a measurement of continuing education for any client or student who asks for the CEUs to be awarded. One IACET CEU is equal to ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.

The number of CEUs awarded will depend on the exact course. Contact a Business Development Manager to get an exact number for the course you are interested in.
